Policy on the use of Artificial Intelligence

The Editorial Board recognizes the potential of innovative technologies in scientific research while emphasizing the priority of academic integrity and authorial responsibility. The Editorial Board does not prohibit the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies (such as ChatGPT, Gemini AI, Claude AI, Grok, DeepSeek AI, etc.) by authors during the preparation of a scientific article, provided there is strict compliance with international standards of publication ethics.

The use of AI within the journal is governed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) recommendations "Authorship and AI tools, Elsevier’s policy on The use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in writing, and the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) Recommendations on the use of AI in scholarly communication, Law of Ukraine No. 4742-IX "On Academic Integrity"

AUTHOR OBLIGATIONS AND DISCLOSURE

Declaration of Use.

To standardize this process, we utilize GAIDeT (Generative AI Delegation Taxonomy) — a framework that helps authors clearly specify which tasks were delegated to AI under human supervision.

Authors are required to formally notify the Editorial Board of the use of GenAI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) in their cover letter. Furthermore, a declaration generated via the GAIDeT Declaration Generator online tool must be included directly within the manuscript (immediately before the References section).

The declaration must include:

  • The name of the corresponding author (or a statement of collective responsibility);

  • The specific version of the tool used (e.g., ChatGPT-4o, Claude 3.5 Sonnet);

  • A list of tasks delegated to AI according to the GAIDeT taxonomy (e.g., literature search, stylistic editing, data visualization, etc.).

Authorship Criteria and Responsibility

AI tools do not meet the criteria for authorship and cannot be listed as an author or co-author of a scientific article. Full responsibility for the manuscript's content, data integrity, absence of plagiarism, and compliance with copyright law rests solely with the authors. AI tools cannot be held accountable for research outcomes.

Restrictions on Use

The use of AI must remain under the full control of the researcher. It is strictly prohibited to use AI technologies for the creation of:

  • The core text of the work without significant authorial reworking;

  • Original research results and scientific conclusions;

  • Statistical analysis and data modeling presented as the author's own work.

How to Generate a GAIDeT Declaration

To ensure transparency, we ask authors to use the [GAIDeT Declaration Generator]:

  1. Select the language (Ukrainian/English);

  2. Specify the declarant and the name/version of the AI tool;

  3. Select the delegated tasks from the provided list;

  4. Copy the generated text into your manuscript before the "References" section.

Declaration Examples

Example 1. The authors of this manuscript hereby acknowledge the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools during the preparation of this work. In accordance with the Generative AI Delegation Taxonomy (GAIDeT, 2025), the tasks of proofreading, editing, and translation were delegated under full human supervision. For these purposes, ChatGPT-5 (OpenAI, June 2025 version) was utilized. All outputs generated by this tool were thoroughly reviewed, edited, and approved by the authors, who bear full responsibility for the content and conclusions of the publication. Generative AI tools are not listed as authors and bear no responsibility for the final results. This declaration does not apply to the use of basic tools for grammar, spelling, or citation formatting.

Example 2. The authors of this manuscript hereby certify that no generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools or services were used during the research or preparation of this manuscript to perform any of the tasks listed in the Generative AI Delegation Taxonomy (GAIDeT, 2025). All stages of the work — from conceptualization to final editing — were performed exclusively by the authors without the involvement of generative AI.

ETHICS FOR REVIEWERS AND EDITORS

To ensure confidentiality and the quality of expert evaluation, the Editorial Board establishes the following rules:

Prohibition of AI in Peer Review. Reviewers are strictly prohibited from using AI tools to evaluate the content of an article or to generate the text of their review.

Confidentiality. Manuscripts are confidential documents. Uploading manuscripts (in whole or in part) into AI systems is prohibited due to the risk of disclosing content and violating authors' rights.

Decision Making. Editors shall not use AI technologies to assess the scientific value of submissions or to make any editorial decisions. The responsibility for the editorial process and the final publication decision rests solely with the editor.

SANCTIONS FOR NON-COMPLIANCE

If the use of artificial intelligence is detected without proper disclosure by the author, the Editorial Board reserves the right to:

  • Reject and return the manuscript at any stage of review;
  • Initiate the retraction of an already published article in specific cases.

The journal's policy regarding the use of AI tools will be periodically reviewed and improved to reflect advancements in AI technology and updates to ethical standards and scientific publication practices.
